What is iGreen

Leading the future markets

iGreen is a student association founded in the ESADE University of Barcelona in March 2010, aimed at introducing students and companies to the future’s socio-economic model based on sustainability. By actively participating in all kind of related entrepreneurial projects and events iGreen members explore theopportunities and challenges behind the new business areas and the future’s corporate approach to society.

Given the fact that iGreen has been born in a business context, its approach to sustainability is pragmatic, efficient and focused on profitability.

What we certainly know is that currently the Earth resources are scarce, overexploited and too unequally distributed and consumed, which will probably lead to several serious global disorders with enormous negative consequences for the social welfare and the proper functioning of the world’s economy. In order to prevent this we believe that we need a structurally different socio-economic model based on more efficient technologies and on another business philosophy with the Corporate Social Responsibility as key element of its core-business.

Thus we could say that although the driver of our action is not environmentalism but efficiency and fairness, our final output is compatible with its principles given its favorable implications for the natural environment in terms of pollution and the exploitation of the Earth resources.

How do we understand sustainability?

Sustainability is rather a global concept than a concrete idea, which has implications to all dimensions of human life: economy, society, culture and environment. Hence and in order to be able to deal with a question of such enormous complexity we decided to start up by focusing our efforts regarding sustainability in three different scopes of action and investigation:

Accumulate the necessary knowledge to inspire students and companies to green and sustainable business by carrying out and participating in all kind of related projects and events.

In the future we see ourselves as real experts and a reference in the promotion and assessment in sustainable business.
